Knee Ligament Injury

Knee ligaments are the short bands of tough, flexible connective tissue that hold the knee together. Knee ligament injuries can be caused by trauma, such as a car accident. Or they can be caused by sports injuries. An example is a twisting knee injury in basketball or skiing.

Symptoms of Knee Ligament Injury

Loud Popping Sound
Sudden Onset of Pain
Swelling Within 24 Hours After Injury
Instability or Unable to Bear Weight to Injured Leg
Limited Range of Motion

Causes of Knee Ligament Injury

Sprain or Tear of One or More Ligaments
Excessive Force or Twisting at the Knee
Falls or High-Impact Forces
Auto Accidents
Missteps
