Managing Sciatica with Physical Therapy

Sciatica is a painful condition caused by the pinching or irritation of the sciatic nerve. Sciatica pain originates in the lower back and radiates down through the buttocks and to the leg. It is typically described as a constant burning sensation or shooting pain.

A physical therapist will work with you to create a tailored program to help with your specific sciatica symptoms. Targeted exercises are a big part of any physical therapy program, but some other treatments include:

Your therapist will determine which modalities are appropriate for you.
