Meet our PT, Mithun!

Physical Therapist Mithun Abraham

What made you get into the field of Physical Therapy?

I’ve always known I wanted to go into healthcare. I wanted a career where I can connect with patients on a personal level, a job that I would have fun doing where I didn’t have to sit at a desk all day and one that would give me a diverse medical experience and a good work-life balance. Physical therapy fit those requirements for me. Since starting my journey I’ve come to appreciate more and more about our profession and it’s impact on peoples lives. It’s a great feeling to play an essential role in helping people overcome their physical restrictions and get their life back.

How long have you been practicing physical therapy?

I have been practicing for 2 years since I’ve graduated

What’s your favorite part about being a physical therapist?

My favorite part is seeing patients overcome the barriers and limitations they were facing. Yes, sometimes that process is long and hard but to finally see the results of your labor come to fruition is the best thing and to know that you had a role in helping someone achieve their goal. To see the gratitude on someone’s face for what you’ve done...that’s the best feeling.

What’s your favorite condition to treat?

I enjoy treating upper extremity and in particular shoulder related injuries for both the older population as well as the younger athletic populations involved in overhead sports. The shoulder is a complex joint which to me makes the rehab for it fun and creative. I’ve also come to appreciate treating low back as well and a lot of that stems from my own battle with low back injuries. I’ve come to learn a lot about it and enjoy educating and treating my patients for it as well.

How can patients benefit from treatment?

As my college instructors would say “Movement is Medicine”. As PTs we use all sorts of therapeutic exercises, modalities and manual techniques to reduce and alleviate pain. Perhaps our best resource is the patient education we provide and that’s what I find patients appreciate the most sometimes. Using techniques and skills to manage pain is one thing but also teaching patients preventive measures to reduce the occurrence of pain can be even more beneficial.

What do you love about being part of the Reddy Care team?

I see the care and commitment the company gives to both our patients as well as the employees. I think our recents efforts and response to the COVID pandemic is a testament to that commitment in the way we practice safe patient care and equipping all our staff with beyond just the recommended bare minimum PPE. It’s shown that it’s a company that stands for its patients, its staff and the communities as a whole and I respect that.

What’s one fun fact about you?

My all time favorite book series was Captain Underpants.
