Neck and Shoulder Pain

Neck and Shoulder Pain

Neck and shoulder pain commonly occur together. They are intimately connected by multiple nerve pathways. This can make it hard for the brain to trace where the pain is coming from.

While there are many different causes or reasons you could be experiencing neck and shoulder pain, it usually stems from an injury to the soft tissues (like muscles and ligaments), within these structures. This can occur through an accident, or through more gradual degeneration. Activities like heavy lifting, athletic activity, and throwing things, can put you at risk for developing neck and shoulder pain.

Physical therapy is an effective tool for treating neck and shoulder pain. A physical therapist will help pinpoint the cause of your pain through certain diagnostic techniques like range-of-motion tests. Once the cause of your neck pain and shoulder pain is determined they can recommend the most effective program to manage or eliminate your pain.

Here are some treatments you could expect during your physical therapy treatment:

Your physical therapist may also suggest some ergonomic changes in your lifestyle if your work or daily habits are contributing to your neck or shoulder pain. Making adjustments to your desk and chair or adapting your routine can prevent further injury.

If you are experiencing neck or shoulder pain, our experienced team of therapists at Reddy Care Physical and Occupational therapy can help. It’s important to take action before it gets worse. Give us a call today to schedule a consultation.
