Spinal Rehabilitation

Spinal Rehabilitation with Physical Therapy

Spinal rehabilitation is a special type of restorative care received after a spinal cord injury. The spinal cord travels from the stem of your brain and down your back. When these nerves become damaged, communication from your brain can be affected, and your brain may not be able to send movement signals to your muscles.

Spinal cord injuries are typically broken down into two different types:

Complete spinal cord injuries.

A complete spinal cord injury causes permanent damage to the section of the spinal cord that has been affected. This means there is no function below the level of injury.

Incomplete spinal cord injuries.

Incomplete spinal cord injuries are those where there is only partial damage to the spinal cord. So, in this type of injury the patient may still experience feeling, sensation, and movement in spite of the damage.

A spinal cord injury can be quite debilitating and can dramatically impact your physical and emotional well-being. Getting on a rehabilitation plan is important to accelerate your recovery. Our team at Reddy Care Physical and Occupational therapy can help design an individualized spinal rehabilitation program for you or your loved one. Our therapist will combine the most effective forms of treatment for your specific case. Treatment may include:
