The Goal of Pediatric Physical Therapy

Pediatric Physical Therapy

Did you know that physical therapy is not just for adults? Children and even babies can also benefit from physical therapy.  Children can be seen by a pediatric p.t for a variety of reasons like:

The goal of the therapist is to make everyday tasks easier and help them move their body to the best of their abilities.  They help kids improve their range-of-motion, strength, flexibility, and movement patterns. During the initial visit the therapist will examine your child’s strength, and development and from there determine a treatment plan that will best serve their needs.

Your pediatric PT will do their best to keep the sessions fun and engaging. For the most part, it should feel like play.  Games can be incorporated to keep the child motivated and happy. Fine motor skills can be worked on by doing activities like balancing on a balance beam, playing on a large exercise ball, and running and hopping around to improve coordination. The therapist may even suggest activities or exercises to do with the child at home.

If you think your child may benefit from physical therapy, our team here at Reddy Care Physical and Occupational therapy has got you covered. Our team has experience working with children and adults of all ages.  To find out more about how physical therapy can benefit you or your little one, give us a call.
