WorkSTEPS!

Reddy Care Physical, Occupational and Aquatic Therapy is a WorkSTEPS provider, carrying out work hardening programs to prepare you for a return to work. Work hardening focuses on strengthening certain body parts and reaching physical performance. The main focus of work hardening is to get you into peak physical shape for performing your job, so you can return with a much lower risk of sustaining an additional injury.

Dr. Eric Bayer, PT, DPT at Reddy Care states, “Each company that is associated with worksteps has protocols that we follow. It tests general strength and flexibility and also job specific tasks to make sure that the candidates are capable of performing the tasks required.”

Who can benefit from work hardening

Your Reddy Care physical therapist will design a WorkSTEPS program based on the tasks you perform at your job to make sure you can fulfill the requirements. For example, your physical therapist may give you weights to lift while using the proper form if you hurt your back lifting heavy objects while at work or your physical therapist may give you exercises to strengthen your legs, arms and core if you're a truck driver and struggle lifting yourself up to get in.

The WorkSTEPS program focuses on exercises and activities necessary for preparing your body to return to work. It includes strengthening and flexibility exercises, cardiovascular conditioning, spine and joint stabilization exercises and job task training (pushing, pulling, crouching, lifting, bending, sitting, or twisting).

It is important that you return back to work pain free and confident knowing you can perform your job efficiently. Reddy Care Physical, Occupational and Aquatic Therapy offers WorkSTEPS at our farmingdale location. Call us today to schedule an appointment or to learn more about WorkSTEPS.
