Balance Disorders

Physical Therapy for Balance

Balance and stability can be improved with exercise. A physical therapist will perform an assessment and find out what exercises are the best and safest for you and any balance disorders that you may have! When a person’s body does not move for a long period of time, they can suffer a loss of strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and mobility (the ability to move easily and perform common activities). Specific problems that can result from frailty are your muscles become smaller, weaker and tighter, the joints become stiffer, and the cardiovascular system weakens. All these factors can lead to a fear of falling.

At Reddy Care Physical & Occupational Therapy we have advanced technology to assist our therapist in providing the best care and improve your balance!

Technobody Balance Machine:
This technology allows you to move your center of mass in different directions challenging her stability in various ways. This machine then produces objective data that explains what directions the patient has difficulty moving in.

Technobody Treadmill:
Integrated 3D cameras help to give instant feedback for analyzing movement and posture. The TecnoBody is the only treadmill with an embedded PC platform that monitors and records step length, step speed, step symmetry range of motion of hips, knees, and ankles. All these functions create a unique system for a complete and usable Gait Analysis without any attached device.

Alter G Anti-Gravity Treadmill
Have you ever wanted to defy gravity? With our Alter G treadmill, you can! This treadmill allows our patients to walk and run with decreased pressure on their hips, knees and ankles. This machine can reduce your body weight down to as little as 20%, creating a pain free and comfortable environment for recovery.

Solo Step:
The Solo Step, which is a mounted track in the ceiling attached to a harness, allows for free movement. This removes any possibility of falling while doing physical therapy. It provides 100% security instantly by boosting your confidence in walking by taking the fear out of falling. The Solo Step provides patients with a quicker recovery process, allowing them to begin standing upright immediately. Because of this, patients are able to get back to doing the activities they love much faster than they may have anticipated.
