Low Back Pain Relief

Low Back Pain can be Treated with Physical Therapy

At some point in our lives, most of us have experienced lower back pain. This pain can be fleeting, going away after a couple of weeks, or become a chronic condition.

The lower back, also known as the lumbar spine, is a complicated structure of interconnecting bones, ligaments, and muscles, all working together to provide support. The lower back supports the weight of the upper body. It also provides the flexibility and mobility necessary for everyday movement. The weight it supports and its’ complicated structure, cause the lower back to be more susceptible to injury. When the lower back is injured or in pain, daily tasks can become difficult.

So how do you treat the back pain?

Lower back pain can range in intensity, from a minor annoyance to severely debilitating pain. There are also many different reasons a person could be experiencing back pain, and treatment will vary because of this.  For mild back pain, some at-home, self-care treatments can be effective. Things like getting rest, limiting activity, using ice to reduce inflammation, can help to relieve pain.

Physical therapy is often used as an effective method of treating back pain, especially where surgery was needed.  Physical therapy can help you regain strength, increase range of motion, and stimulate healing. A physical therapist will work with you to strengthen your core muscles to reduce strain on the back. Their treatment plan may include anything from ultrasound technology for deep muscle healing, to stretching and strengthening exercises to improve muscle control.

If you are experiencing back pain, our expert team of therapists here at Reddy Care Physical and Occupational therapy can help. They will work with you to reduce your pain and teach you proper body mechanics to prevent a recurrence.  To find out more, give us a call and schedule a consultation today!
