Meet our Occupational Therapist, Alex!

Reddy Care Occupational Therapy

Alex Udey, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist

What made you get into the field of Occupational Therapy?

What drew me to occupational therapy was the ability to have an impact on somebody's life on a daily basis by improving their abilities and their quality of life. It is one of the most rewarding professions especially when you are able to see progress in a patient over a period of time.

What’s your favorite part about being an Occupational Therapist?

My favorite part about being an Occupational Therapist is seeing a patient achieve a goal or do something that they weren't able to do before, especially when it is something meaningful that they have been striving towards. Whether it be big or small, just knowing that I helped somebody achieve that and seeing them smile is what makes it all worth it.

What’s your favorite OT condition to treat?

My favorite conditions to treat are anything orthopedic, as well as neurological such as a stroke or Parkinson's disease. Knowing how quickly someone's life can change from one of these conditions in such a short period of time, I love being able to make even a small impact in their lives.

How can patients benefit from at home occupational therapy treatment?

Being able to treat patients in the comfort of their own home is my favorite part of this job. Having an hour to sit down one-on-one with somebody and get to know them over the course of a few months and learning what is important to them really helps me be the best therapist that I can be. Doing the work in their home allows for much better transferability of skills since they are performing the exact skills they need in their own home.

What do you love about being part of the Reddy Care Physical and Occupational Therapy team?

Reddy-Care has been nothing shy of amazing to me since I started with them. It has been a pleasure to be one of the first few OT's hired by them and now seeing how much the OT department has grown in such a short amount of time. I applaud their desire and persistence to continue to grow to have the largest outreach possible because there are so many people in need of services that don't even know that in-home therapy is even possible.

What’s one fun fact about you?

I love baseball and even more importantly the Yankees!
