Occupational therapy can greatly improve your quality of life

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy has a variety of valuable uses including, improving fine motor skills, helping patients improve physical skills after an accident or injury, and assisting with activities of daily living, or ADLS.

The term activities of daily living refer to essential tasks that each person needs to do on a daily basis. Things needed for basic survival and well-being, like brushing your teeth, eating, and going to the bathroom, qualify as ADLS.  Some more examples of ADLS are:

After a hospital stay or sustaining an injury, a patient may need help taking part in their daily activities. For example, patients who have suffered from a stroke can tremendously benefit from having an occupational therapist help them relearn and even find new ways to accomplish these daily tasks. Someone who has suddenly found themselves in a wheelchair will need help adjusting to this new way of life, this is where occupational therapy comes in.  Children experiencing developmental delays can also benefit from receiving occupational therapy and working on their fine motor skills.

Occupational therapy can greatly improve the quality of life for you and your loved ones. In addition to a patient’s physical well-being, occupational therapists also focus on any psychological and social factors that need to be addressed.  This unique approach makes occupational therapy a vital part of treatment for patients.

Here at Reddy Care Physical and Occupational Therapy, our therapists have considerable experience using the disciplines of occupational therapy to treat many neuromusculoskeletal and cognitive problems. Our therapists will work with you one-on-one to design a treatment plan best suited for your needs. Give us a call today to schedule a consultation!
