OUCH! Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is unfortunately a common problem. The shoulders ball and socket joint helps give you a great range of motion, but it is known to get dislocated more often than any other joint in the body. Repeated stress from the way you use your shoulders everyday can lead to trauma.

There are many things that can cause shoulder pain. Shoulder pain can be caused by osteoarthritis, joint inflammation, dislocated shoulder, rotator cuff injury, sprain & more. Symptoms that you may experience are: pain deep in the shoulder joint, weakness, pain when moving the shoulder and sensation of pins and needles down the arm.

It is important to visit your doctor when experiencing a lot of pain or when you feel you have injured yourself. Your doctor can conduct a physical exam and suggest imaging tests. These imaging tests could include x-rays, CT scan, MRI or an ultrasound. Your doctor can give you a prescription to attend physical therapy to help reduce pain as an alternative to surgery.

After being diagnosed, a Reddy Care Physical Therapist will create a treatment plan specifically for you to manage your shoulder pain. Your treatment plan may include: stretches to help relieve stiffness, heat and ice application, laser therapy, electrical stimulation, kinesiology taping, myofascial release therapy, manual therapy, deep tissue massage & exercise prescription.
