Occupational Therapy (OT)

Occupational therapy (OT) teaches you how to adapt and perform any tasks whether it be at school, work or home. OT focuses on helping patients improve their daily function and perform daily tasks. Occupational therapists work with people of all ages, from children to seniors.

Occupational therapy may help recover and maintain your skills if a health condition, injury or illness is making it hard for you to take part in your daily activities. Occupational therapists specialize in the upper limb and treat conditions ranging from a stroke all the way to a fracture of the wrist. If you have any of the following health problems, ask your doctor if OT may help you:

Your Reddy Care therapist will assess and review how you do your daily activities. These daily activities are essential tasks which include: bathing, eating, dressing yourself, going to the bathroom and mobilizing safely. Your occupational therapist will set goals designed for your needs. Your OT can help you improve your motor skills, hand and eye coordination or do tasks in new ways. They can also give recommendations to increase your safety in the home and community, assign exercises to improve endurance and educate you and your family on fall prevention.

Occupational therapists can help make life easier! If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, you are likely a candidate for occupational therapy.

  1. Do you have trouble doing self-care tasks such as getting dressed?
  2. Do you have difficulty getting in and out of bed? Tub? Car?
  3. Do you need recommendations for home safety equipment, such as grab bars, or a seat for your tub?
  4. Do you have difficulty leaving your home?
  5. Are you having trouble with fine motor skills like handling pills or coins?
  6. Are you having trouble with balance?
  7. Are you having difficulty with cooking and other household duties?

At Reddy Care our occupational therapists can provide treatment in one of our 6 clinics or treat you in your home. Don’t let barriers affect you or a loved one's social, emotional and physical needs.
